Developer:

My picture appears purple over all, what caused them?
Overall purple colour on picture is caused by PH too high. You probably did not use starter on new chemistry. Add starter, or PH reducer.

My pictures has purple colour on black area, what caused them?
You do not have enough developing agent. Add density booster.

My pictures appears green over all. what caused them?
Overall green is caused by PH too low. You probably did not have enough utilization to keep your chemistry fresh. Use PH booster to push PH. Check print density, such as black area. If it is not dark enough, use density booster. If image can not improve even after first boost, discard and restart.

I restarted with new developer, but I found my pictures are very flat, what caused them?
You did not follow our start up instruction. You have been using too much part A on start up. You should have 60% of part A left over on starting up new chemistry.

Why do you give extra amount of Part A on replenisher if many people can make mistake on starting new chemistry?
Our replenisher can give extra oxidation prevention to working solution. Hi-Tech chemistry can last longer than our competitors formula.

What can I do with those left over part A?
Divide them into 3 portions. Add them into the working tank every week if your utilization is low after 6 weeks. Do not use them if you can turn over the tank within 6 weeks

The unexposed portion of paper, such as paper leads, is yellow or pink colour, what caused them?
White area is not white is caused by stain and/or over developed. Stain is caused by low utilization. Oxidized developing agent can adhere to paper as dye. Chemistry too strong can cause fog. Old paper will have high fog.

My pictures does not have bright red colour, what caused them?
Old light bulb can not emit light in the cyan spectrum. Red colour will require cyan colour to produce them. If your light source checks good and still can not produce bright red colour, then, probably is your chemistry too old. Old developer, and/or bleach too weak can cause dull red.

My developer is getting stronger, what caused it?
Chemistry will get weaker if turned bad because of low utilization. Otherwise, it can be stronger because of vaporization. You should top up with water every morning to recover the lost through vaporization. You can also use our density reducer to reduce the developer strength.

My control strip which is only 6 months old reads very bad on my chemistry. However, my pictures are very good. Should I replace my chemistry?
No. Control strip has very short shelf life. It can not be trusted if it is not fresh.

Why control strip has short shelf life?
Control strip is a precisely pre-exposed photo material. Latent image can deteriate with time. According to manufacturer's specification on paper. Latent image on paper is good for two hours only.

Bleach/Fix:

How do I know if my paper bleach is weak?
When your bleach is weak, you will have metal silver left behind on emulsion. Thin layer of metal silver is blue colour. Inspect the yellow portion of your picture, it will appears green. Inspect red portion of your picture, it will appears brownish red. Inspect skin tone, you can see the face is darker colour.

How do I know if my paper bleach is too strong?
Over bleach can remove too much silver on the emulsion. Black colour need silver too show. Over bleach will make print over all brownish. Black appears brown. Pictures lack of blue colour. Image appears yellow no matter how to correct.

My bleach/fix is very old, would it be very weak?
Not necessary, old chemistry in many occasion is stronger than new chemistry. It is because old chemistry is more concentrate through vaporization. Old bleach also has more oxidizing power.

Processing Marks:

What is tar?
When developing agent is oxidized, it will become a kind of dark purple colour deposit attached on  the surface of anything. When tar reached the bleach/fix tank through carry over, it will be oxidized to become black deposit attached to any surface too.

My picture is very dirty, it has black marks on them. What caused them?
Processing marks are usually caused by tars in tanks, racks. You are supposed to clean all racks and tanks periodically.

Is there any chemical to remove tar?
Tar in the developing tank is very easily removable by using our product called Stain Remover. Catalogue number SR1. Some company may suggest you to use toilet washer to clean your tank. Please be aware toilet washer can contaminate your chemistry. You must rinse the tank throughly after you use toilet washer.  Tar in the bleach/fix tank is removable only through periodically replacing with new chemistry. New bleach/fix chemistry will have the power to dissolve old tar.

How come my pictures are even more dirty than before after I washed my tanks and replaced with new chemistry?
It is because new chemistry dissolve old tar left over after cleaning. The dissolved tar will attached to paper when it travel through.

What is the best way to keep my pictures clean?
Clean all racks and tanks periodically. Replace all tanks with new chemistry every half year.
